Study Model: Progress
Deriving from the "Site Impression" collage from the previous post, this is the second iteration of the first model.
The strongest impression of the site which is the strong social activities that occur there leads to an initial concept of a building that can be open to the public space. A sense of open space is the intent yet, connecting volumes with strings allow a separation and maintain the openness.
The use of light frosted materials creates ambient lighting throughout. In addition, the sculptural triangles can be used to separate spaces and interact with volumes at the same time.
The materiality of this model is interesting. The transparency of the skin in all of the levels of the building gives an extrovert orientation of your proposal not in terms of the auditorium but overall. In terms of program though this is not 100% possible so you should be aware that some spaces should be less public and less exposed.
ReplyDeleteThe strings you have placed introduce the idea of suspended spaces which could be very interesting. You could think of your program as floating units wrapped by a enclosure skin.
