The diagram intends to show how I plan to cantilever the building specific to the portion facing the park. Trusses and a thick concrete wall are the materials that I am considering. The concept is to be able to have that part floating, which provides for a more open park. However, the concrete wall has blocked the entrance to the public core. Perhaps a solution is to create an opening on the concrete mass.

  1. interesting concept. does the mass have to be in concrete or can you re-think things in terms of a lighter yet more tensile structure, cladded to achieve the desired bulk for your anchoring 'mass'? Of course this would somewhat defeat the truthfulness in materiality that it seems you want to exhibit, but would give the you more options for perforating this wall to facilitate circulation.

It would still be great to see some daylighting/rendering studies as experienced from the inside of this space. nice work Renz.

  2. I like the idea of the cantilever so as to create an inviting space for park underneath.
I think that the analogies of the concrete mass are still unbalanced in your sketch though.
The concrete as material could work well for your building as you have a certain brutalistic approach.
I do think that a series of perforations on the concrete wall could be a good solution to open towards the public core.

    Very very exciting progress.
