Basement:
The grand stair on the ground floor leads to the basement where the auditorium is located. In order to connect the public/ada elevator I had to create a corridor. But, it resulted in creating an open space instead. This can be used for a communal space or a cafeteria.

Ground & Second:
There are 2 entrances to the building. One located at the front lot and the other on the back lot. The main entrance is located on the main building (back lot). The lobby is embedded with the art gallery at ground level that also connects with the second level art gallery. The communal stair by the art spaces aim towards the view of the Brooklyn bridge.

Third:
Provides offices on the back lot while a lounge is located on the front lot towards the park.

Fourth:
Computer lab & library

5,6,7 :
Studios + SHOPs (Fabrication)

Rooftop:
Provides additional views that visitors will enjoy and that in-house artists can also exhibit outdoor sculptures as well.

This post showcases the connection from the back side to the front side. Initial scheme didn't resolve the connection on the third floor between both sides.

The diagram intends to show how I plan to cantilever the building specific to the portion facing the park. Trusses and a thick concrete wall are the materials that I am considering. The concept is to be able to have that part floating, which provides for a more open park. However, the concrete wall has blocked the entrance to the public core. Perhaps a solution is to create an opening on the concrete mass.

The following images showcases the progress of the application of generic materials on the structure as well as another addition to it.

A first scheme for a roof park has been added. Having a paved circulation and greenery accessible to the public as well. The idea behind it is for visitors to enjoy the views and that in-house artists can also exhibit outdoor sculptures. An intent for a direct relationship between art and views.

Presented is a diagram showing the rectilinear abstraction of the park which compliments the building as a sculptural object that is open to the public, using the park as an influence.

The following images explores the first scheme for the public core. The platforms allow the public to walk around the exterior walls of the building that can be used to have exhibits. The stairs are at the center of the core. By eliminating the wall at the ground floor, we allow the building to be more porous to the public and park. The public can now also detect the stairway from the park.
