SIX Questions

1.) The building typology that I'm researching on is a school.

2.) I'm researching this building typology because knowing that schools are the foundation of learning and human activity, I would like to explore how human interaction/activity add to the learning process.

3.) The specialty of this building type that I would like to research is an art school.

4.) 10 examples that I'm researching on:
1. Linnaeusborg, Centre for Life Sciences / Rudy Uytenhaak Architectenbureau

2.The University of Nottingham – The Gateway Building / Make Architects

3. Ecotron / MDR Architectes

4. Princeton School of Architecture / Architecture Research Office

5. Faculty of Fine Arts, Brno University of Technology / CHYBIK+KRISTOF Associated Architects

6. Lancaster Institute for the Contemporary Arts (LICA) / Sheppard Robson

8. John Jay College of Criminal Justice / SOM

9. Los Silos Youth Centre / Lavin Arquitectos

10. Asan Institute for Policy Studies / iArc Architects

5.) The goals that I would like to achieve on this building type is to understand how the spaces affect the learning and creative process. Whether it inspires their learning design or how a space can create a better learning environment. In addition, how the product of one's creativity affects the artist's space.

6.) The program elements that I would include for now are:

- lobby
- restrooms
- cafeteria
- auditorium
- storage
- studios
- labs
- offices
- library
- lounges

  1. This is a great building typology. I could see it being placed on either site. You may want to study the light for art buildings and that of the site. Prof. Jill
