Presented is a diagram showing the rectilinear abstraction of the park which compliments the building as a sculptural object that is open to the public, using the park as an influence.
The following images explores the first scheme for the public core. The platforms
allow the public to walk around the exterior walls of the building that
can be used to have exhibits. The stairs are at the center of the core.
By eliminating the wall at the ground floor, we allow the building to be
more porous to the public and park. The public can now also detect the
stairway from the park.

- 3D Massing Views
This progress scheme accentuates the idea of a public outdoor core
that connects with the Brooklyn bridge park and the iconic view.
The
massing is an elevated rectangle that has a cut out to provide an
outdoor core circulation. The rectangular cut-out is dictated by the
view to the Brooklyn bridge tower. The studio, library & office
spaces are orientated towards the park. Having the Library cantilevered
and offsets under the mass exemplifies the use of form follows function.
Providing a communal stair to the auditorium, which is located at the
basement level helps with inviting the public into the space. The main
entrance to the building is located on lot #2. This helps the students
and staff enter the building without having to go down further towards
the park.
Materials & space quality have not been detailed. The main
purpose of this post is to keep understanding how the program &
massing start to engage eachother.

The sketches shown below showcases the idea of engaging the building with the park by having an outdoor public space that interacts with the Brooklyn Bridge Park.
The open public core unifies the building with the park. Providing an interesting park like vertical circulation. The roof top will also provide views and the core can also be an exhibit hall.
*Updated 3D model sketches will be added later.

Here is an updated section diagram in more of a design form.
The purpose of this diagram is to show how I intend to incorporate the park into the building.
Communal space is very important to maintain public/social interaction.
The form is not final, it is just a programmatic study following up my first section diagram from my previous posts.

Study Model - Progress 2
This 3D model is a brief study of the main initial concept by adding volumes and a sense of structure. The concept of the folding walls is used to separate main spaces such as the main entrance, studios, auditorium and shops. The strings which are interpreted on the model as structure, form part of the aesthetics, as well as allowing a sense of open space.

Study Model: Progress
Deriving from the "Site Impression" collage from the previous post, this is the second iteration of the first model.
The strongest impression of the site which is the strong social activities that occur there leads to an initial concept of a building that can be open to the public space. A sense of open space is the intent yet, connecting volumes with strings allow a separation and maintain the openness.
The use of light frosted materials creates ambient lighting throughout. In addition, the sculptural triangles can be used to separate spaces and interact with volumes at the same time.
